  • What Drives the Price of a Weighbridge

Several factors cause variation in price. Key ones include:

    1. Capacity (how many tons it can weigh) — 50-ton, 80-ton, 100-ton etc. Higher capacity = more steel, stronger load cells, more durable materials.

    2. Type:

      • Portable / mobile weighbridges cost less in civil works but may cost more per ton of capacity because they must be lighter and modular.

      • Above-ground (surface) fixed platforms require ramps, stable foundations but less excavation.

      • Pit-mounted weighbridges are more expensive due to excavation, pit walls, drainage, etc.

    3. Platform size & material: Length, width, profile (steel deck, concrete over steel, etc.). Larger trucks require longer/ wider platforms which increase cost.

    4. Load cells & electronics: The brand and quality of load cells, indicators, display systems, whether there are digital integration, remote monitoring or data logging, etc.

    5. Civil works & site preparation: Earthworks, site leveling, foundations (for pit or for ramps), drainage, ramp construction, road access etc. These costs can add substantially.

    6. Additional features: Certificate (UNBS, etc.), automated ticketing systems, remote/telemetry, safety rails, fencing, lighting, guard rails etc.

    7. Transportation / shipping / import duties if parts or the full unit are imported.

    8. After-sales service & warranty: Suppliers who include calibration, maintenance and local support may charge more, but it improves long-term reliability.
